About this site

Sports Card Identifier is the website of CardSquad, a sports card scanner for iPhone. It is a price guide and a set of checklists for baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer cards, built and run by the independent developer who makes the app.

Where the values come from

Every card on the site comes from the reference catalog the CardSquad app uses to identify a card from a photo: the player, the year, the set, the card number and the parallel. Its value is an estimate drawn from completed sales of that card, in US dollars. A card page says how many closed sales the last 30 days recorded, and when there were none it says that its figure is an estimate.

A value is a guide, not an offer. Grade, centering, autographs and the state of the market move a single sale a long way from the average, which is why every card page links to its sold listings on eBay so you can see the sales for yourself.

Checklists

Set checklists list the base cards by number, then each parallel and insert with its print run. Some sets are only partly recorded so far; their pages say how many cards are recorded and that the list is not complete, rather than calling it the whole set.

Articles

Articles explain what drives a card's value, how grading works and what is in a set. They are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. Before one is published, an automatic check rejects any price or grading turnaround it states that does not come from the catalog.

What the site does not do

  • It does not sell cards, and it is not affiliated with eBay, PSA or any card maker.
  • Links to eBay are plain searches for the card. They are not affiliate links, and nothing about you is passed on.
  • Card and set names belong to their makers and leagues; they are used here only to say which card a value is for.
